Keep West Adams Thriving & Renew the BID

The West Adams Business Improvement District is up for renewal! Come to our board meeting on August 5th (details above) and see what a renewal means for the future of West Adams Blvd.! See what services your assessments fund, share what you want to see in the future BID management plan and more. Below are a few ways the district has improved since the BID was established in 2019. Looking forward to seeing how much more the BID can accomplish in the years to come!

Before BID (2010-2019):

  • Limited New Business Openings: The number of new businesses moving into West Adams was relatively low during this period. The area was known more for its historic charm than as a business hub. The focus was primarily on maintaining the architectural heritage, with some small-scale, independent businesses and a few art galleries and restaurants slowly appearing.

  • Property Values and Investment: Property values were stable but did not significantly increase. Investment in the area was gradual, with no major development projects or large-scale commercial ventures.

  • Economic Activity: The economic activity on West Adams was modest, with limited foot traffic and lower commercial activity. The area was not widely recognized as a dining, shopping, or cultural event destination.

After BID (2019-Present):

  • Increase in New Businesses: Since the BID’s establishment, West Adams has seen a surge in new businesses. The area now boasts over 15 new restaurants, including popular spots like Alta Adams, and Mizlala. Additionally, the number of creative businesses, art galleries, and boutique shops has increased significantly (Urbanize LA) (Adams Blvd).

  • New Developments: The BID has attracted major development projects, such as the office space at 5252 West Adams Boulevard. These developments indicate a significant uptick in commercial investment in the area (Urbanize LA).

  • Rising Property Values: With the influx of new businesses and improvements in the area’s cleanliness, safety, and appeal, property values in West Adams have risen. This is a direct result of the BID’s efforts to enhance the district’s attractiveness to investors and new businesses.

  • Economic Impact: The increased foot traffic, higher property values, and the opening of new businesses have all contributed to a revitalized local economy. The area is now recognized as a thriving business district, which contrasts sharply with its quieter status before 2019.
