Lara Adekoya, founder of Fleurs et Sel bakery, has a story that blends passion, resilience, and community spirit. After graduating from the University of Southern California in 2015, Lara enjoyed a successful career at Nordstrom, known for her digital savviness and exceptional customer service. Despite her professional success, Lara always found joy and creativity in her kitchen at home.
The Covid-19 pandemic gave Lara the time and inspiration to pursue her passion for baking. In April 2020, she launched Fleurs et Sel, a locally-owned bakery specializing in small-batch sweet treats. Her first creation, the sea salt chocolate chip cookie, quickly gained popularity, starting with deliveries to friends and expanding to her loyal Nordstrom customers.
What began as a heartfelt way to brighten quarantine days soon drew lines of eager fans to her West Hollywood home. Fleurs et Sel™ is now a celebrated minority-owned business, with Lara at the helm, bringing a digital-first approach and a personalized customer experience to the baking industry. Lara expanded Fleurs et Sel™ from weekly pop-ups to a brick-and-mortar storefront in West Adams. The BID is lucky to have her! Her journey from a pandemic hobbyist to a renowned baker showcases the power of passion, creativity, and community.
